Two-thirds of students will consider suicide by the end of high school. Young people who attempt suicide or consider suicide as an option are more likely to disclose their suicidal thoughts to a peer rather than to an adult.

Submit Your Story (Page 2 of 7)

Here are the steps for submitting your story:

Please keep in mind that this is not a treatment site. If you are feeling suicidal, please seek help immediately. Click here.

  1. Read this list of steps so you know what is involved.
  2. Read “Before You Write Your Story” (next page) so you understand how your story will be used.
  3. Read and understand the consent form. If you have trouble understanding it, please contact info@thereasons.ca with your questions. It is very important that you understand what you are agreeing to.
  4. Agree to participate in the research study. (You can print the information and consent form for your records.)
  5. Acknowledge that The Reasons to go on Living Project will have the right to use and edit your story.
  6. Submit your story! (You will be given the opportunity to print your story.)

After submission:

  1. Each submitted story is given a number that will be displayed on the screen. This number will not be shown again, so if you want to remember it you will need to write it down. All stories that are posted online or published will include their number, so you will be able to see if it is your story.
  2. You will be asked a few questions about how you found out about the Project and about submitting your story.
  3. We offer our sincere thanks for your story.
